Farm Credit Supports Agriculture and Rural America With More Than $ 300,000 in National Contributions

Denver, CO (PRWEB) June 08, 2011

DENVER, June 8, 2011 – Farm Credit, a national provider of financing and related services to agricultural producers and agribusinesses, committed more than $ 300,000 in contributions to local and national agricultural programs in the first and second quarters of 2011.

Farm Credit’s National Contributions Program is aligned with the Farm Credit System’s historic mission to serve agriculture and rural America, and commits $ 2 million annually to support programs that improve the well-being of American farmers and ranchers. Additionally, Farm Credit’s five banks and 84 associations give millions of dollars and thousands of volunteer hours annually to support local and regional programs.

“Farm Credit has a legacy of supporting programs that advocate for, educate, and benefit rural American communities in measurable ways,” said Christina Bowen, director of national contributions for Farm Credit. “The national contributions program expands the concept of lending support to rural America beyond Farm Credit’s expertise in financing farmers and ranchers.”

“Thanks to Farm Credit’s support, The Executive Program for Agricultural Producers (TEPAP) has educated more than 1,300 farmers and ranchers on business topics to help them thrive in today’s economy,” said Dr. Danny Klinefelter, TEPAP program director and a National Farm Credit grant recipient. “Made possible through Farm Credit’s contributions, TEPAP is an educational program that enables farmers and ranchers to learn advanced agribusiness skills that are relevant and essential to remain competitive in today’s international agribusiness sector.”

The Farm Credit national contributions program’s application deadline for the third quarter is Aug. 2, 2011. Qualified applicants are invited to apply today at http://www.farmcredit.com. Click on the “Apply for Grants and Sponsorships” button.
